Covered by his blood

I read an interesting story about ranchers who learned a valuable lesson about the behavior of sheep. You see, sometimes a lamb is still-born and other times a sheep dies during childbirth, leaving her young without a mother to give it milk. When both of these events happen at the same time in a flock, the ranchers would take the still-born lamb from the healthy mother and bring the healthy lamb to the mama sheep hoping that she would accept it as her own and give it her milk.

The problem is that the mother would smell the lamb and know that it was not hers, so she would kick it away. What the ranchers finally discovered is this: If they cover the lamb with the blood of the still-born lamb, the mother identifies it as hers and lets it suckle.

As Christians, all our sins (past, present, and future) are covered by the blood that Jesus shed for us on the cross. All we have to do to receive this wonderful gift of life is to:
  • Confess your sins and ask God to forgive you of your sins.
  • Believe in your heart that Jesus is the son of God.
  • Believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again on the third day.
  • Repent of our sins. This means that we make a decision to stop sinning and obey the will of God over our own will.
This is what is meant by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives.  I'm so glad my sins are covered by the blood of Jesus. Aren't you?
