Words of Wisdom from Mother Teresa

I want to share a famous quote from Mother Teresa. Her words of wisdom remind us how the Lord wants us to live our lives.
  • People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
  • If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
  • If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
  • If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
  • The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
  • Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
  • For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
Mother Teresa’s words reflect the sentiment of Jesus when a Pharisee, who was also a lawyer, tested Jesus by asking him “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” (Matthew 22:36).
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40
Don’t you just love how Jesus summarized the entirety of God’s law into just two commandments?  We would do well to live by them.

God Bless,
Daniel
