Did Jesus claim to be God?

Budda never claimed to be a god but his followers worship him as a one. Jesus claimed to be God and yet some unbelievers like to propagate the lie that Jesus never made that claim. I’m here to tell you that no one can repeat that lie with a straight face who have read the holy bible.

The many prophecies that Jesus fulfilled and the many miracles that He performed should be proof enough that Jesus was the Messiah, but if not here are four proofs that Jesus claimed to be God.

Proof 1

After the Jews learned that Jesus had healed a man on the Sabbath, they wanted to persecute and kill Him.

But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.
John 5:17-18

These Jews understood that Jesus was claiming to be God but obviously didn’t believe Him.

Proof 2

As Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch, some Jews surrounded Him and asked Him to tell them plainly if He is the Christ.

Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”
John 10:25-30

Because the Jews didn’t believe that Jesus was who He claimed to be, the Son of God, they picked up stones to stone Him but Jesus escaped out of their hand.

Proof 3

During His unlawful trial, Jesus was brought to Pontius Pilot for questioning.

Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.”
Matthew 27:11

Proof 4

After questioning Jesus, Pontius Pilot brought Him out to the Jews who yelled: “Crucify Him, Crucify Him!” Pilot announced that he found no fault in Him and told the Jews to crucify Him themselves.

The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.”
John 19:7

Clearly, they understood that Jesus claimed to be God’s Son.

I hope you’ll keep these scriptures in mind the next time you hear someone say that Jesus never claimed to be God.
