Superfood for the soul

Eating organic and unprocessed foods for optimal health has been all the craze in recent decades. In more recent years, we’ve seen the introduction of superfoods, which are (usually uncommon) varieties of herbs, roots, fruits and so on that have especially high levels of healthful goodness that improves our physical health.

Taking care of our bodies is a good thing to do but we need to know how to do it the right way. After all, there’s been a lot of misinformation out there. They said eggs are bad for you because they’ll raise your cholesterol level. Then later, scientific studies found that to be false. They said, stop eating fats so people stopped eating avocados. Oops, it turns out that they’re full of a healthy kind of fat. And don’t get me started on margarine vs. butter.

As important as taking care of your physical health is, it’s also important to take care of our spiritual health. Some people seek enlightenment, while others just want relief from their anxieties, stress, and worries. Still, others seek after eternal salvation. The problem is there’s so much misinformation out there that many people fall for false gospels and lies, which usually have just enough truth mixed in to make them seem right.

Just like acting on the wrong advice won’t help you improve your physical health, acting on a false gospel or religious belief system won’t make you a child of God. What you need is superfood for the soul, and that superfood is the Word of God.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
If you’re not reading the holy bible, which is the inspired word of God, how can you discern false gospels when you hear them? How can you know when God’s word is quoted out of context? The answer is, you can’t. That’s why it’s absolutely necessary that you spend time reading your bible every day. If you can dedicate hours to watching a ball game or a movie, surely, you can spend a little time each day in God’s word. You just need to make it a priority.

Our souls need food—just as much as our bodies—but soul food can only come from the Bible. The good news is that the more we eat of it, the healthier we’ll be. In fact, with such a diet, our hearts will become more robust and active. Our weight will be measured in depth and not girth. We will then be more inclined to help others gain spiritual health.
Quote by Pastor Jack Hibbs
Don’t try to work bible study into your schedule. Work your schedule around your bible study. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you as you consume His superfood for your soul.
