I was shocked to learn that most Christians in America don’t vote. It got me wondering why this is so. I understand that God puts down Kings and raises up rulers as He sees fit. But, doesn’t God expect us to participate by doing our part? I think so.
I’m not going to tell you who to vote for, but I want to make two key points. First, it’s important to vote. And second, as a follower of Jesus, your vote should align with biblical values. One day, Jesus will return to rule the Earth, and everything will be wonderful. But, until then, we need to occupy until he returns. We need to do our part as citizens.
Protect the children
The first thing I want you to consider, when casting your vote, is which candidate will better protect our children. We live in an age where evil is called good and good is called evil. For example, some candidates want to legalize killing babies in their mother’s womb up until the point of going into labor. Still, some politicians have voiced their support for killing the baby after a botched abortion. I know there are differing opinions about the difference between a fetus and a baby. Here’s what David, who became the King of Israel had to say about that:
For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
Psalm 139:13-14 (NKJV)
There’s also the transgenderism issue. One candidate for president wants taxpayers to pay for gender reassignment surgeries for illegal aliens. I think we’re already doing that for convicted felons. Worse yet, the state of California demands that parents pay for gender reassignment surgeries for their children, even when it’s against the parent’s will. If the parents refuse, the state can take the child away from them. It’s utter madness, that the state thinks a child has the capacity to make an irreversible life-changing decision when they’re not old enough to vote or buy alcohol. I would not want to be one of the evil people, pushing this agenda, who will have to face the King of Kings and Lord of Lords one day. Here’s what Jesus had to say about harming children:
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
Matthew 18:6-7

Support for Israel
Part of my decision, when it comes to choosing a candidate, is whether or not they support Israel. This is because the Lord said we will either be blessed or cursed by God, based on how they treat Israel. I believe biblical history shows that this applies to both individuals and nations.
Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)
Does your candidate or party of choice support pressuring Israel to give up land for peace? By the way, this strategy has never worked for Israel. They gave up land and never got peace.
All candidates say they support Israel, but do they really? One former president was responsible for the peace accords between Israel and several of its neighbors. He moved the US embassy to the capital of Israel, Jerusalem. He declared the Golan Heights, a stretch of land that’s essential to Israel’s defense, to be part of Israel. On the other hand, the 46th president and his VP claim to support Israel but constantly pressure them into a cease-fire after they were attacked by the Iran funded Hamas and Hezbollah terror groups as well as being attacked directly from Iran itself. All while slow-walking or restricting weapons and ammunition that Israel needs to win the war they didn’t start.
I know these aren’t pleasant things to think about but I hope you’ll factor them into your decision when you cast your vote.
